The stickers collection is created for an album to be completed by the child, putting in it the stickers he/she has collected.
The child may receive stickers either in sticker pack, single units or accompanying (promoting) third products.
The album may be physical, on paper, and also, –in its place- there may also be a virtual album for completion online:
a. Paper album: on the back of the sticker there is a number which identifies the place in the album where it should be stuck.
b. Virtual album: the sticker has a unique code which will identify it so that it can be placed in the virtual album.
The audience for this type of collections ranges (depending on the collection used) from young children (4 years old) to pre-teens (10-12 years old). It is made for both boys and girls.
It has the advantage of being able to be considered a cheap present for a child (low-price toy concept), with a low economic impact on the household economy.
The game starts with the purchase since the child never knows the sticker that he or she will get (the concept of building up surprise and emotion with each purchase)
As there are few numbers and letters on the print along with their favourite characters, the child is stimulated in order to reinforce learning numbers and reading. Educational collections may be made on the children’s different subjects of interest.
The collectable album invites children to ”play” until it is complete, so that their ability to persevere is developed. Some collections even have special prizes for those who complete them.
The chance for each child to exchange repeat stickers invites them to relate and interact with other children with similar interests and makes them interact with them encouraging healthy social relationships from a young age.
